At M.I.A we believe that people should feel great and have fun whilst feeding their good inner addictions: exercise, health and wellness. We believe a fit body and mind, earned, is to be admired.

Our original Studio is a boutique reformer Pilates studio located in the heart of Paddington on Oxford St, independently owned and run by Paddington locals, where we wanted to create an inspiring and intimate experience for you to enjoy.

Our brand new second ‘New York Loft’ style Studio is on Botany Road in Alexandria, where we’ve brought the Pilates addiction to Sydney’s Inner West.

“In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see a difference and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body.” — Joseph Pilates.

Come nourish your spine, challenge your mind, stretch and strengthen your body with us. Join the addiction.

Meet the Team

TATE

Co-owner & Instructor

Born and raised in Yorkshire, Tate lived in London for ten years and was the Head of Consumer Marketing for Yahoo! in Europe, before making the move to Sydney.

Introduced to Pilates by his wife, Kamilla, in 2010, Tate was dragged kicking and screaming to a class despite his loud protestations that "he would be the only bloke and it’s just stretching and stuff".... The rest is history. Tate loved the experience and was addicted.

After years of practising as a client he decided to take this love of Pilates a step further and enrolled with PilatesITC and gained his diploma in 2017. Tate’s style is dynamic but fluid. He loves to ensure you make every minute count in terms of both benefit and fun.

KAMILLA

Co-owner & Director

In 2012 Kamilla took Tate to his first pilates class in London for the all important wedding shred, where they both became addicted to Pilates. Little did they know that 3 careers, 3 beautiful kids and 1 country later their pipe dream of opening their very own Studio would come true. They are beyond excited to have opened M.I.A Studios together in their beloved Paddington. Kamilla is determined to encourage others to feed on their good inner addictions: health, wellbeing and fitness, in particular, reformer Pilates.

Kamilla works at Google but has practised Pilates for over 15 years and you will find her in the Studio every chance she gets!

There isn’t a form of physical activity that Ivy hasn’t tried to some degree, but on introduction to the reformer she was instantly sold on Pilates. The simple and functional movements of Pilates facilitated self-actualisation and a mind-body connection that she kept coming back for, and the improvement in her strength, mobility and stability as well as general quality of life, was simply a welcome by-product of her new favourite activity.

Ivy’s passion for her work is fuelled by the honour of sharing the studio with clients who have carved out the time to prioritise themselves, tune into their body and accept a challenge. Ivy aims to create a safe, fun and addictive environment in her classes. She prides herself on organic flow, layering for multiple different fitness levels, and finding the shakes (IYKYK).
